Last time on La Femme Nikita, Nikita was sent on an abeyance mission but Michael helped her escape. It has now been 6 months and Michael has not heard from Nikita and he is afraid she never got out. Meanwhile, Nikita is living somewhere in the world working as a waitress until she is spotted by some Freedom League members and is captured. She is then interrogated and video taped to show Section One that they have her. Later on in her cell, Nikita escapes but she knows that word will get back to Section that she is alive so she goes to find Michael. Back at Section, since Michael can not get his act together since he lost Nikita, another operative, Ackerman, is leading a mission to take down the Freedom League since somehow the Freedom League seems to know all of Section One's moves. Michael goes on a mission to retrieve an engineer but almost gets caught inside the mission van when it explodes. As he tries to run for cover, someone saves him from getting shot. It is Nikita, she is not dead after all. Nikita contacts Michael and they meet up at her abandoned boathouse. Michael pounces and we get some hot monkey love. ("I thought I lost you." "You never had me.") The next day Michael wants her back inside Section and Nikita agrees saying that running is not life. They need to figure out a way. Thankfully the way comes when the Freedom League's tape of Nikita is seen by Operations and Madeline. They think she has been kidnapped all this time. With Michael's (really Nikita's) intel of where the Freedom League is located, Section One goes in to destroy it and get Nikita out. Nikita sneaks back inside so that Michael can keep the illusion that she had been a captive for 6 months. Nikita and Michael make it out just in time and everyone is surprised she is alive. Back at Section, Michael tells Operations that the double agent working for the Freedom League was Ackerman and that Nikita never gave up any of their locations. ("For the next three days you'll be subjected to an intense debriefing. You will cooperate with us because you know how things are done here. When we're done with you, you'll be canceled. Any questions?") Nikita, now back in Section, is resting trying to heal from her "interrogation wounds". Michael enters and Nikita hopes that now that she is back in Section, she and Michael can have some more of that wild monkey love. But Michael knows that they have to be careful and take it slow. ("All we have is our dreams.")
Since Michael is too close to Nikita, Operations and Madeline decide that another operative from Special Ops, Jurgan, should be the one who will evaluate and train Nikita. Michael does not trust Jurgan and is scared he will find out that Nikita was not captured. Michael's next mission is to bring back a Freedom League operative, Kudrin, who escaped when Section One bombed their hideout last episode. Michael cannot let this man be captured since he could tell Operations and Madeline that Nikita was only there for two days not 6 months. As Michael tracks down Kudrin, Nikita starts her training with Jurgan. All he wants is for her to be honest with him, but Nikita knows that she can't do that. Unfortunately, Kudrin survives his capture by Michael and is interrogated by Madeline. After training with Jurgan, Nikita is scared that Jurgan might know what's going on. Also she wants to get funky with Michael. ("I came back for you.") But again Michael tells her no and to be careful. ("Get over it.") Michael goes on another mission to get the Freedom League's directory. He finds it but destroys the computer it is on just incase it says anything about Nikita. Meanwhile, Operations, Madeline, and even Jurgan start to get suspicious of where Nikita really was for six months. But Michael has a plan, he will take care of Kudrin by offering to let him die if he lies for him and Nikita has to take care of Jurgan. She can't kill Jurgan but luckily for her Jurgan tells her that he will keep her secret.
As Nikita continues to train with Jurgan, Michael becomes increasingly scared that Jurgan will tell on both of them since no one in Section is nice enough to keep a secret without wanting something in return. Jurgan is still keeping her secret and gets Nikita back to provisional status though she still must be kept close to Jurgan just in case. Nikita goes on her first mission with Michael in charge and Jurgan in tow and everything goes as planned. Back at Section, it seems that Jurgan has acquired a little crush on Nikita asking her for coffee and going by her apartment. Since Michael seems to hate Jurgan, Nikita needs another opinion so she asks Walter. Walter says Jurgan's ok. ("He's in what I call the Five Percent Club. Ninety-five percent of the Recruits have their souls sucked out of them the first year. For some reason, this place doesn't get everybody.") Jurgan goes to Nikita's apartment and they talk. He tells Nikita about how he got into Section and just when they were starting to relax a jealous Michael calls her in. Michael tells Nikita that Jurgan is lying and that he is really a murderer. She doesn't believe him. On the next mission, Michael tries to get Jurgan and his whole team killed. Jurgan is pissed and Michael is jealous so they decide to settle this like men. Beat the crap out of each other then pretend like everything is fine. I guess they settled their differences because on the next mission to take down Helix, Michael shoots Jurgan to save his life. Afterwards, Nikita goes in to make plans for a date with Jurgan and while walking out, blows off Michael's invitation for a date.
A Norwegian satellite was on the way into space when a booster exploded causing the payload to fall into the North Sea intact. Since most satellites have a nuclear power source (a material that could be used as a weapon) Section needs to retrieve the satellite before the Fifth Order or Russian Mafia get to it. Michael, Nikita and Jurgan are sent to retrieve it. Not only are they all still on the same team but Nikita and Jurgan seem to becoming "a team" outside of Section as well but Jurgan and Michael still don't see eye to eye. It's probably because of Nikita ("Patented Michael answer, the blank stare. If you're jealous, just be jealous, tell me not to see him") and the fact that Jurgan seems to be able to do anything in Section he wants and does not get yelled at by Operations. Nikita is curious why Jurgan's such a special case and she finds out that it's because Jurgan has information on Section One that could destroy it so they let him do whatever he wants so he won't tell. Section One is sick of catering to Jurgan. They purposefully put Nikita and Jurgan together so that they will like each other so this way it will be easier to set up Jurgan. Michael bugs Nikita without her knowledge so that when she goes to visit Jurgan, Section can get his access codes. Just as Nikita and Jurgan are about to get it on, Michael calls them both back in. Section sends Nikita and Jurgan on a mission so Michael and Birkoff can get into Jurgan's house and destroy all the information he has on Section One. When they come back, they both know they were set up. On the next mission things don't go as planned. A bomb doesn't go off like it should. Since Jurgan believes that his life is over now that he doesn't have anything over Section anymore, he goes in to set the bomb off. He blows up real good. R.I.P. Jurgan.
Operations is briefing the team about an upcoming mission when he is interrupted by the sound of an approaching Operative, Kronen, angrily yelling about how he hates this place. To show how much he hates it, he shoot Operations twice before Walter can take him down. Since Operations is in very critical condition, another head operative is brought in to take Operation's place. He is Ingran Petrosian who was an undercover operative for Section in Russia where he infiltrated the KGB until Section One brought him back in during the episode Rescue. Petrosian starts making many changes including giving Nikita the job to provide technical oversight for the mission over Madeline. Madeline does not trust Petrosian at all and wants Operations to get better fast. ("Go back inside. Tell your colleagues to do the possible, then the impossible, and then the unthinkable, until he's out of danger. Because when you're finished, Doctor, that room will contain either four living men or four corpses. Do you understand?") Nikita does well with her first mission to provide technical oversight and gets the promotion to second in command since Petrosian needs his own "Madeline". This new position has its bad sides and good sides. She has to spy on Walter and her other friends for Petrosian. While talking to Walter, she learns that Kronen was talking about his mom and that is always trouble in Section and on the next mission an operative Sykes messes up. For her good work, Petrosian gives Nikita a reward. He is offering her a full life outside Section, maybe a life with Michael. This new power starts to go to Nikita's head. ("Am I under orders to please you?" "Of course...not") [Personally, I would have left out the not] ("If I'm dealing with the devil, its because sometimes the devil is the only one open for business...it bothers you that I have so much more power now.") Meanwhile, Operation's progress back to health is slow and steady. Now back in Section, Petrosian makes Nikita cancel Sykes to show that he can trust her. Nikita can't do it so Madeline does it for her. Both Nikita and Madeline have figured out that Petrosian hired Kronen to kill Operations and Madeline wants Nikita to choose which side she is on. Nikita chooses Section's side and gets Petrosian to "kill" Operations, exposing him and his plan. Operations is fine and everything returns to normal except for Petrosian who is cancelled.
Dorian Enquist is a fringe member of the terrorist community. Supplier, fixer, informant. Whatever needs to get done, he'll do it. He's been on Section's "Green List" for years because of his ability to play both sides. Section has asked him to acquire a large quantity of Semtex, an untraceable plastique used widely in Europe. However, it appears he's having second thoughts and it may end up in the wrong hands. Enquist does not want to sell to Section at all, he wants to rip them off so Operations decides to kill Enquist and just take the material. On the mission, Michael's Comm Link's has been compromised because he is getting commands from somewhere else so Michael goes on Mandatory Refusal, which means he'll assume the Section has been breached and will severe all communications until his Mission is complete. Unfortunately, Madeline gets kidnapped and the only way to save her is to call off Michael. Since Section can't reach him they send Nikita and team in after Michael to stop him, dead or alive. Michael will not listen to Nikita or anyone else because he is not sure if everyone is now compromised. As everyone is searching for Michael, Madeline is being tortured by Enquist. She is tough and even stops her own heart for a few seconds to get Enquist to play by her rules. Operations needs to stop Michael at all costs so he sends a team in to kill Michael at Enquist's house when Michael gets there. Nikita goes along and takes out the power in the house and moves in to get Madeline and gets Operations to take the hit off Michael. Michael kills Enquist, gets the material, and calls into Section saying that his mission is complete. Nikita wonders why Michael did not trust her. He tells her "If it were anyone else who came after me I would have killed them. I can't allow you to become my weakness."
A bomb went off at a museum garden and now Section is trying to find out who planted it. The only person who does know is Michael. The bombers are a group called L'Heure Sanguine lead by Rene Dian whom Michael once was a member of back in college in Paris. During college, Michael, along with Rene Dian, set off a bomb that got people killed. Michael was the only one caught and sent to prison and then got recruited by Section. Michael is protecting Rene because after Michael was "killed" in prison, Rene took care of Michael's sister. But L'Heure Sanguine and Rene will not stop so Michael is forced to go after them when Nikita tells Section about Rene after she follows Michael and witnesses his meeting between him and Rene. Michael brings in Rene but helps him to escape. Rene thinks that Michael wants to join them again but Michael is really there to take down all of L'Heure Sanguine. Nikita kills Rene to save Michael. In the end, Michael goes in his car to spy on his sister now with a husband and a child.
Radovan Luca was once the head of his government's secret police. He is now awaiting the arrival of a significant cache of weapons. If the deal is consummated, it will be nearly impossible to prevent the Balkan government from falling. Luca needs to be taken out so Nikita and Michael are sent in to do it. Nikita and Michael happen upon two orphans, Peter and Sasha, who tell them where Luca went. They takes the kids with them. They find Luca in a prison camp and kill him. Then they go off to find the kids parents. When everyone is reunited they all go to cross the border but Nikita and Michael can only get out if they have the kids with them. Nikita and Michael get through the border but the kid's parents do not. Section found a family from their country who just immigrated. They'll have a good home. Meanwhile, Birkoff has a new girlfriend Gail who he finds out is stealing from Section. He contemplates telling Madeline and when he finally does she tells him that he should have found it out sooner. Section allows Gail to think she is stealing so she will work better.
Dr. Kerlock was paid by Red Cell to place explosives and a detonator inside someone's abdomen. It's Section's job to find out who has the bomb inside of them. What they do know is that Jenna Vogler, one of Red Cell's top foot soldiers was in the room during the surgical procedure so they need to bring her in. Nikita is sent to get Jenna in a women's prison where Jenna is being held for selling drugs. Nikita finds Jenna who, as soon as she meets Nikita, hates her and tries to get her killed. But when Nikita tells her that she can get them both out, Jenna starts to like Nikita a lot more and share some sexy smooches. Meanwhile, Walter has a new girlfriend, Belinda, so he gets Birkoff to find out what she likes so he can buy her a great birthday present. Birkoff finds out what she likes but also finds out that Belinda is on abeyance. He changes her records so that she is not the next to go out to get killed so that Walter can have a few extra days with her. Back at the prison, Nikita and Jenna find that they can get out through some tunnels that Birkoff has found. Nikita and Jenna make their way through the tunnels and are caught by Section as they get out. Back in Section, Madeline and Michael try to get Jenna to reveal who has the bomb. They finally figure out when Jenna looks at herself that it is Jenna who has the bomb inside her and that her plan was to get into Section all along.
Section One is being stretched thin because of the large number of missions they have going out. Another mission comes up but they have no one to send so Operations looks at the Contingency List and finds that Nikita is the next choice. It's three years ahead of the usual curve, but it can't be helped. She'll have to learn as she goes. Her mission is to capture Peter Stark, who has been buying spent fuel rods from reactors in Eastern Europe. Section wants to know his methods and sources, so he needs to be taken alive. Nikita chooses Taylor, Mentz, and Vizcano for her team. Nikita tries to treat her team differently than how they are normally treated in Section but her team doesn't seem to care. Nikita and her team fail their first mission together and Nikita gets yelled at by Operations. Vizcano was the one who failed on the mission but Nikita won't put her on abeyance. Later, Nikita sees Vizcano's psych profile that says that she is in love with Michael and is fixated on him. She even tried to kill herself last year. Nikita is upset that Michael didn't warn her but Michael says "The best thing that could happen to a Team leader is to have a rebellious Operative. Because if you control that Operative, you control the Team. That's why I chose you for so many Missions, early on. It's best to be ruthless. But, if you're not, it's essential to appear that way." Nikita takes Michael's advice and gets the team to obey her. On the next mission, Nikita saves Vizcano and they retrieve their target. Vizcano tells Nikita about how she used to love Michael and warns Nikita to stay away from Michael. ("Michael doesn't need a companion, he needs a quest.") Nikita tells Vizcano not to worry and that she can have Michael. Nikita and team go on the next mission to get Stark. They get him but Vizcano ends up dying in the process.
Ten months ago Franz Gerrin, the leader of the First Flag Terrorist Group, was sent to prison for the air disaster in the Bering Straits. Despite his imprisonment, First Flag continues to cause disruption. Joaquin Armel is Gerrin's attorney and is the conduit for Gerrin's directives. Section needs to get his files but they will be protected. We first see Nikita and Michael in bed together. ("I should report you for that kind of cruelty.") Nikita and Michael are set up as a married couple, Nikita as a psychic, to get to Armel. It seems that Armel has recently lost his son, Louis, and he wants Nikita to contact him in the afterlife to make sure he is ok. Armel's team "kidnaps" Nikita and Michael and takes them back to his house. With the help of Birkoff, Nikita puts on a great show for Armel. Birkoff seems to know a whole lot about this kid and it seems like he gets the information in real time. Meanwhile, Madeline's mother is dying and she wants to see her. Operations doesn't think it is good idea but he gets her mom and brings her into Section. When Madeline meets her mom, she realizes that Operations was right when her mom doesn't recognize her and won't forgive her for killing her sister. Nikita meets with Madeline and Madeline tells Nikita that she needs to get it on with Michael. ("The average couple who have been married under five years have intimate relations at least twice a week.") How can you argue with that so Nikita seduces Michael and finally gets some. ("I don't know if I'm going to be able to sleep, unless. You need to relax tonight?") Nikita goes back in to "talk" to Armel's dead son again. She gets him to turn off the security and Section is able to get the files that are needed. They take Armel into Section. Nikita finds out that Armel's son is not dead because Section captured him and faked his death to get to Armel. Nikita lets Armel know that his son is alive before they cancel him.
Section needs to rescue two hostages from a nightclub so Nikita and her new operative friend, Terry, are sent in to retrieve them. Terry doesn't want to go into the room to retrieve them so Nikita covers for her and goes in herself but the hostages are dead. Later Nikita finds out that Terry is pregnant and does not want to hurt the baby but she doesn't want to tell Section because they take the babies away from the mothers. Nikita, Terry, Michael, and their informant, Mick Schtoppel, who we met before in Gray, are sent to a party to retrieve intel. Terry sees this as her chance to escape but Michael tracks her down and brings her back in. Meanwhile, Walter is having his three year review. ("Which would you prefer to kill, a cat or a monkey?") If he doesn't pass he gets to retire but in Section that is something you don't want. In the next mission, Terry double crosses the team so that she can get out of Section and have her baby but it doesn't work out and she winds up helping Section by killing Bates, the guy they were sent in to kill. Terry is taken away and Walter passes his review.
Last night Section engaged in an operation to destroy certain records belonging to Orlando Perez, a first-year Red Cell tactician whose been responsible for the abductions of several high-level players, all of whom have access to sensitive Intel. During the mission, Michael was kidnapped and taken to Perez's hideout. There, Perez subjected Michael to various drugs to get Michael to tell Section secrets. Nikita and team are sent in to get Perez but hopefully also to rescue Michael. Nikita finds Michael but she soon learns that whatever drugs they gave him made him lose his memory. Nikita takes Michael back to her apartment so that she can help him recover his memory before Section finds out and cancels him.("I must be a real jerk. Actually, I'm very fond of you.") Inside Section, Nikita continually covers for Michael while Walter examines Michael's blood to see if he can counteract the effects of the drug. Nikita coaches him through the mission to get Perez but in the end Michael ends up getting shot. Walter find out what was in Michael's blood and gives Nikita the antidote. She goes in to check on Michael ("Have I ever told you that I love you? I do.") and waits for the antidote to work. Finally, Michael wakes up and Nikita explains to him what was going on.
David Fanning, who we last saw in Obsessed is back now recruited as a Section operative. He is put on a mission to kill Nicolai Kusko with Nikita and Michael but they both do not trust him since they put him here and Michael screwed his wife. Michael assures Nikita that on the first sign of trouble from Fanning, he'll be cancelled and to make sure he goes through with the mission Michael makes him tag Kusko with a substance that will kill Fanning if he doesn't come back for the antidote. Fanning does the mission but afterwards kills a team member and kidnaps Nikita. In order to get Nikita back without Section knowing she was gone, Michael has to go find Fanning's wife, Lisa, and bring her to him. Michael gets Birkoff, on his down time, to help him locate Lisa. ("You can trust me. If you betray me, I'll kill you. That's why you can trust me.") He finds her and Michael tries to seduce Lisa again in order to get her to come with him. But Lisa is pissed that Michael used her so when she gets through "using him" she gets her guards to beat up Michael. Michael then lies and tells her David is after her and that if he can find her so can he so she has to come with him so he can protect her. He drugs Lisa and when she awakes she realizes that Michael is taking her to David. But Michael gives her a way to end this for good. He gives her a vial of poison to slip into David's drink to kill him so she can finally be free of him. Michael exchanges Lisa for Nikita and Lisa slips the poison into David's water.
Birkoff has been trying to break a hard code but he can't seem to do it so Section brings in Greg Hillenger. He graduated from high school at 11, college at 13, received his PhD after 6 months, and wrote his thesis on non-linear principle components and on statistical L-trees. It's exactly the kind of approach that's needed. So Nikita is sent in to kidnap Hillenger and bring him back to Section. Their plan is to get Hillenger to decode the program without him seeing or knowing about Section so that they can release him when he is done. Hillenger does figure out the code but gets curious and wanders outside his room. Nikita finds him and takes him to see a Section operative being tortured for information to scare him into staying in his room. But Operations and Madeline find out he has seen Section so they decide he has to stay here. Hillenger wants to leave so he rigged a virus to go off in the systems. Section tricks Hillenger into disarming the virus and then takes him back to Section to become an operative.
Halir's group, called Bright Star, goal is to destroy all symbols of modern decadence. Their weapon of choice is suicide bombings. Last night, Section sacrificed a mole in order to protect a more important contact, Gregory Formitz, dealer in forged documents, passports, visas, and press credentials. He supplies Bright Star with fake ID's. If Section controls Formitz, they have a chance to stop Bright Star. Nikita is Formitz's liaison to Section but they don't trust him because he loves danger and betraying Section to Bright Star or vice versa is the kind of danger he craves. Nikita finds out that Formitz is a sick and crazy SOB. He likes to take women, kill them, and then cut them up. The next time Nikita sees Formitz, he says he wants a prostitute, Danielle, Nikita is hiding from him in exchange for his latest information. She won't give her to him but Section finds her and gives her to Formitz even though Michael says they didn't. Inside Section, Walter and Belinda get married but she is finally sent on her abeyance mission and is killed. Walter is so pissed he almost goes to kill Operations but Nikita and Birkoff stop him. Section finally gets Halir because of Formitz's information. Nikita thanks him by sending a Red Cell operative to kill him though she denies this to Michael.
Birkoff gets dumped by his girlfriend Gail and then a virus hits Section. What a great day. Luckily, Nikita and Michael were not exposed so they are the ones that have to go find the cure. They find a doctor, Anatole Bisaroff, who knows where the cure is located. Inside Section, the virus is spreading and it has infected both Operations and Madeline. Since Section is on lockdown, Operations cannot get to Madeline to check on her so he shoots out the barrier and goes to her office to help her. Nikita and Michael finally bring the antibiotic back into Section. They cure everyone who is not already dead.
Section One has a new profiler, Andrea Kosov. Michael believes that her profiles are too theoretical because she doesn't have any field experience. Operations decides that Andrea should join Michael's team to get more experience in the field. Their next assignment is Hans Korda, a geneticist who six weeks ago stole codes that could be used to manufacture designer viruses from a lab in Zurich. Walter on the other hand has a dilemma because Operations is asking him to lie for him about what happened in a mission to George, the head of Oversight. Walter wants to tell the truth to get Operations in trouble to get him back for canceling Belinda. They try to convince him to tell the truth by offering to give Walter a hologram of Belinda he can play with but he doesn't want that. In the end he lies for Section though Operations and Madeline are not sure why. On the next mission, Andrea turns out to be a good field agent. When they get back into Section Michael asks Andrea out on a date. They dance on the next mission then they are seen in bed together. [Michael has been getting a lot lately hasn't he?] Michael tells Andrea that he doesn't love Nikita and that he wants to be with her. But the next day Michael blows Andrea off and she gets pissed. Andrea goes to see Nikita to ask if Michael did the same thing to her. Andrea wants to do something about him and his attitude towards women so in the next mission she gets him trapped inside a room with a bomb. Fortunately, Nikita was able to get Michael out in time. Andrea is cancelled because of this and it turns out this was all a test for Andrea because Section suspected her of being unstable. She failed.
When Michael and Nikita go on a mission to bring back Balke Beeka, a freelance expert in demolitions currently doing business in Albania, a little girl gets caught in the crossfire. Nikita wants to make sure the girl, Julia is alright. She goes back to look but gets kidnapped by the girl's father because he is scared she is with the police. Nikita, with the help of the little girl gets free. Back at Section, the team is trying to figure out who this mysterious Brutus is. They finally find out it is just a computer and Madeline is sent in to test it's wits but when Madeline lets it into Section systems it takes over. Birkoff contains it finally and they dismantle it. Meanwhile, Operations begins flirting with Madeline more and more. He finally gets her to come up to his tower to have dinner and they end up sleeping together. Ahh, twisted love.
Abel Gilner has been destabilizing third world countries through the use of his massive financial resources. He's about to use these resources to fund terrorist strikes against civilian populations. Section needs to get in with him, discover his financial pipeline, and shut him down. Nikita and Michael are sent in undercover as financial advisors. While there, Goellner's assistant, Karel Giraldi says he knows about Section One and gives Nikita a card to give to Operations. It turns out that Giraldi is actually Charles Sand, a tier one Section operative. He's been waiting for nine years for someone to bring him in. He has been contacting Section One regularly, but someone is blocking his channel. Nikita tells him that unless he can give her some kind of hardware on Goellner, she cannot trust him. Sand gives Nikita a compact disk, he claims that the CD is the only chance Section One has to bring Goellner down. Nikita find out that it was Operations who has been hiding Charles's communications with Section. Nikita tells Madeline this and Madeline tells her that Charles is her husband and that she has to find a way to keep him alive during the next mission. Nikita tries to save him but Madeline comes in and tells Nikita that she will deal with Charles. Madeline kills him saying there was no way they could bring him back in. At Nikita's apartment, Carla, Nikita old next door neighbor come to visit Nikita again. She introduces Nikita to her boyfriend Steven but by the end of the episode Carla breaks up with Steven and asks Nikita if she can stay with her. Carla calls Steven and says "I'm in".
Operations and Madeline are talking one morning. Ops is trying to get Madeline to take another trip up to the tower with him but she won't go for it. He wonders if it's because of Charles but she says no. She only did him because it was becoming a distraction and now that they've done it they can concentrate better. Meanwhile, Carla and Steven kidnap Nikita and take her to meet Adrian, the mother of Section One and who ran all the Sections until she was ousted by Operations and Madeline in a coup. She wants Nikita to join her in taking down Section One because Operations is letting power go to his head and wants to draw the map of the world in his own image. He already owns the heads of state of many Eastern and Middle-Eastern countries. What he doesn't have is critical mass. And when he has that, he can do what he wants. Adrian needs Nikita to join her but she can't tell anyone, especially Michael what she is doing. After a few missions Nikita is convinced that Adrian is telling the truth and so she decides to join Adrian. Meanwhile Operations brings in Ray Leeds from Oversight to learn Madeline's jobs. Madeline thinks this is because he's mad she doesn't want to join him in the tower but she later finds out that Operations wanted someone important dead in a mission and needed someone to pin it on in the end. He didn't want to loose Madeline so he brought in Leeds to take the fall.
Adrian needs Nikita to get the Gemstone file for her. She helps Nikita get into secure areas of Section to retrieve the file but she almost gets caught and an innocent operative gets blames for being down there and is cancelled. Everyone is starting to be suspicious especially Michael. No one can prove Nikita is a mole for Adrian but Michael finally realizes that it has to be her. He pleads with Nikita to let him help her but she still maintains her innocence. Nikita gives the Gemstone file to Adrian and they go to give it to someone very important to expose Section One. But Section gets to the guy first. Nikita and Adrian try to escape but Michael and team catch them at Adrian's place. Michael tries to get Nikita to run but she won't. This is because she is actually working for Operations all along so that Section can capture Adrian. But after hearing all that Adrian has said Nikita is not sure that Operations should still be the one who should head Section. ("It's over when I say it's over.") She tells him to explain his deeds or she will release the Gemstone file on the internet. After she listens to both Operations and Adrian's views she decides that Operations is right and she stops the file from going on the net. ("Are the crimes we've committed worse than the crimes we've prevented? And the people we've brought down: is the world a better place without them?") Michael is afraid that they will now cancel Nikita for her insolence, but Nikita tries to convince herself that she is not afraid. Operations and Madeline decide to increase Nikita's mission frequency instead of canceling her. That way the problem will take care of itself.
